Brunch @ C Dine Bar

I headed back to C Dine Bar with some friends on a sunny Spring morning. I'd already tried out their $25 breakfast prefix menu a few weeks ago, but was keen to try it again.

As it was such a beautiful day, we sat outside. The wooden benches were long and made comfortable with cushion tops and backs. Great for just lounging in. However, as the benches were quite low, this made the tables very tall in comparison. Eating a meal was slightly awkward. I kind of felt like a little kid not being able to reach my food. My friend crossed her leg under and sat on her own foot to give herself some height.

The frappes looked enticing. I ordered the lychee, guava and apple frappe - this was so refreshing and light. Lovely! My partner's mango passion fruit frappe was quite thick and heavy to drink but still yummy.

The amuse bouche came out - a warm apple cider. Sickly sweet but served in a small espresso cup.

For the 1st course, I chose the fruit salad with tapioca pearls and melon soup. The fruit was fresh and ripe. The soup had collected at the bottom of the bowl and I drank most of it.

The tapioca pearls were a nice touch, but unfortunately were not cooked properly. They were still floury and dry in the centre.

For the 2nd course, I ordered the wild mushroom omelette with English muffins. This was a bigger serving than I expected. The mushrooms were tasty and full of flavour. The watercress salad was fresh and went well with the mushrooms. Everything worked well on the lightly buttered English muffins. I enjoyed this dish.

I've been to C Dine Bar a few times now. Friendly staff and pretty nice food. It's in a great location at the new Kingston Foreshore. Right next door, there is a sign for Morks (the Thai restaurant previously located in Florey), and further down a sign for 38 Espresso. So far the other known cafe/restaurants to open up are Max Brenner, Lonsdale St Roasters, Chong Co Thai, La Rustica and Izakaya Restaurant and Bar. It's going to be awesome. Hopefully they open in time for summer :)
